Ex-SAR / F&WHR Converted DZ – Flat Wagon Kit

 Note: This Kit Was slightly updated for April 2025 to include the ‘2025 SARCAST Bogie’ Kit and ‘Solid’ 3D Printed Vacuum Pipes. The upgraded bogies frames and vacuum pipes are available to purchase by customers who purchased the original version of the kit. Please enquire directly.

The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways have a number of ex-SAR DZ wagons which have been converted flat wagons by removal of the sides and ends. There are number of variations of which this kit has been designed to represent one of the examples which retains its door hinges and drop guards.

Whilst a useful addition to those modelling the F&WHR infrastructure fleet, it would also make an ideal larger flat wagon for general use on any line.

– 16mm Scale Laser Cut Kit available in MDF or Plywood

– Proven, hidden slot and tabs construction for easy and accurate assembly

– Dummy Brake Detail, including 3D printed vacuum cylinder and reservoir as standard

-3D printed representation of the top brake hand wheels and door drop guards.

– Copper wire is supplied to make the various handrails, handles, pins and hinges.

– Includes 2025 updated ‘SARCAST Bogies’, complete with steel wheelsets in either 32 or 45mm

– Does not include couplings, vacuum pipes or lettering
