South African Railways – NG G-7 Cattle Wagon

Cattle and dairy traffic were a major component of traffic on many of the 2ft Gauge lines in South Africa. The ‘NG G-7’ was a later design and utilised predominantly on the Port Shepstone to Harding Line.

Specification

– 16mm Scale Laser Cut Kit available in MDF or Plywood

– Proven, hidden slot and tabs construction for easy and accurate assembly

– Dummy Brake Detail, now including 3D printed brake cylinder and vacuum reservoir as standard

– Now includes 3D Printed Tie Down Cleats and ‘Solid’ 3D printed vacuum pipes.

– Copper wire is supplied to make the handrails, door handles and door hinges.

– Includes, the 2025 updated ‘SARCAST Bogies, with 3D printed overlays and’ complete with steel wheelsets in either 32 or 45mm to suit your preference as well as suitable bearings.

– Does not include couplings or lettering

Markings

Most of the vehicles represented in our SAR range were built in significant quantities. As such no lettering or numbering is provided as it would be impractical to include so many numbering options.

However, ‘Endon Valley Decals’ produce appropriate decals and these can be customised to suit your requirements.

Detail Upgrade Kit for the South African Railways – NG G-7 Cattle Wagon

The following kit of parts is available to order on our usual 28-day lead time and can be easily fitted to the original kit to bring it nearer to the appearance of the updated kit.

-2025 updated SARCAST Bogie Frames (Pair) in Plywood or MDF with 3D printed overlays as well as 8 off 2mm Journal Bearings. Wheels are not supplied; it is envisaged you would use with wheelsets originally supplied.
